Posture Apps
SitApp alternative: NeckCure or SitApp, which one fits you? (2026)
Is SitApp's free hour a day not enough? Compare NeckCure and SitApp on free time, the way each one nudges you, Pro features and price, and see which suits how you work.
If you’re looking for a SitApp alternative, it’s probably not because the app is bad. More likely the free hour a day runs out too soon, or you want a nudge that’s easier to notice.
NeckCure is worth considering there. Both apps watch your posture through the webcam, and both have Windows and Mac versions. The clearest difference: NeckCure gives you 4 hours a day free and nudges you by gradually dimming your screen; SitApp gives you 1 hour a day free and nudges you with an on-screen alert or a voice line.
This is a comparison based on how you’d actually use them, so you can judge whether switching is worth it.
This article is written by the NeckCure team. Plans and prices were compiled on September 22, 2026; each developer’s own pages are the final word.
The short answer: both cost $34.99 a year and process video on your own machine. SitApp also runs on Linux, supports older Macs (macOS 12+) and sells a $89.99 lifetime licence. NeckCure gives 4 free hours a day instead of 1, dims the screen, and tracks your blink rate in Pro.

If you mainly want a longer stretch of posture nudging each day, start with NeckCure’s free plan. If you need Linux, or you’ve already decided you want to buy once, SitApp fits those better.
Is one free hour a day enough?
Say you want posture detection running from one to five in the afternoon while you work through documents. SitApp’s free allowance covers one of those hours; NeckCure’s covers all four.
That doesn’t mean everyone needs four. If you only use your computer for a short stretch after work, SitApp’s free plan may be plenty. But if you want the nudges to be part of your working day and you haven’t decided about subscribing, NeckCure gives you more free time to work with.
Neither free plan has an expiry date. NeckCure’s free version includes posture detection, the dimming nudge, front and side modes, the floating widget and your score for the day; blink detection, full-screen break reminders and full history are in Pro.
The style of nudge probably matters more than the feature count
A posture app can have any number of features, and none of them help if you don’t notice the nudge when it arrives.
SitApp can nudge you on screen or out loud. If you like the idea of a little assistant speaking up, or you want to customise how the alert feels, you may prefer it.
NeckCure changes the brightness instead. When it detects slouching, the screen gradually dims; when you’re back in the posture you calibrated, it returns to normal. You don’t have to glance at a notification in the corner to notice it.
If you’re the kind of person who dismisses notifications and then forgets to actually adjust, this style is worth trying. An obvious nudge does mean it affects what’s on your screen at that moment, though. If you’re editing photos or video, or you hate being interrupted mid-task, try it on the free plan first and see whether it suits you.
Dimming isn’t unique to NeckCure either, and Slouch Sniper further down does the same kind of thing. What’s worth noting about NeckCure is that this nudge is part of a free plan you get 4 hours of every day.
For blink and break reminders in one app, NeckCure Pro is the tidier answer
If you also want something to remind you to blink and to step away from the screen, NeckCure Pro keeps those in the same app.
It can track your blink rate through the webcam and prompt you to blink, and after a long stretch of sitting it can show a full-screen break with a countdown. Think of it as a prompt during work; whether you actually get up is still on you.
SitApp’s site doesn’t list blink detection, so if that’s something you care about, NeckCure is the one to look at first. Both cost $34.99 a year, which means you can choose on the features you’ll use rather than on price.
Worth being clear about: NeckCure’s blink and full-screen break reminders are both Pro features. They aren’t in the free version, and there’s no Pro trial. If you only want help remembering your posture during work, the free plan is where to start.
On Windows or Mac, check this before installing
NeckCure’s Windows version installs from the Microsoft Store, supports Windows 10 and 11, and has an English interface. SitApp’s Windows version is a download from its site.
Mac users should look closely at system versions. SitApp supports macOS 12 and later; NeckCure needs macOS 15 or later on Apple-chip Macs and macOS 14 or later on Intel Macs. If your Mac is on an older release, SitApp covers more ground.
On cameras, NeckCure can use a laptop camera for front detection and also offers a side-view mode. Side view means putting a camera off to your side, which usually calls for an external webcam. Start with the gear you have; there’s no need to buy an accessory just to try an app.
One more thing: NeckCure requires a Google sign-in. If that doesn’t suit how you work, factor it in before switching.
When you should just stay with SitApp
If you’re used to SitApp’s nudges and the free allowance covers you, there’s no need to switch for the sake of switching. SitApp is also the better fit in these cases:
- You need a Linux version. NeckCure doesn’t have one.
- You want to buy once. SitApp offers a $89.99 one-time licence; NeckCure Pro is a subscription.
- You’re on an older macOS. SitApp supports macOS 12 and later.
- You want to try all the paid features first. SitApp has a 7-day Pro trial.
- You move between different desk setups. SitApp Pro can save several, and you can customise voice alerts and the like.
Are there other SitApp alternatives?
Yes. If neither NeckCure nor SitApp is quite right, these three are worth a look.
Slouch Sniper also dims your screen when you slouch, and runs on Windows and Apple-chip Macs. It’s a $19 one-time purchase, and its site notes the price may rise later. It suits people who like this style of nudge and don’t want a subscription; there’s a live demo on the site, but no long-term free version listed.
SitCoach runs in the browser, free, with no sign-up and nothing to install. It suits anyone who just wants basic posture nudges, and you do have to keep the tab open.
Stop Slouching comes as a Windows app, a web app and a Chrome extension, at $2.99 a month, $24.99 a year or $39.99 once. It suits people who want to use a desktop app and a browser version, and you can get a feel for it through the live demo.

If you do switch, start on the free plan
Moving from SitApp to NeckCure, the two things you’ll notice first are the longer daily free allowance and the nudge becoming a gradually dimming screen.
If what you’re after is something that can sit with you through a whole afternoon and nudge you a bit more noticeably, we’d suggest trying NeckCure. Pick a normal stretch of work and see how the detection and the nudges fit your desk setup before you commit to anything.
If 4 hours a day is enough, stay on the free plan. When you want unlimited time, blink tracking or break reminders, that’s the moment to think about Pro.
